This four day autumn birding trip will focus on the Icelandic specialities and eventual rarities that find their way to Iceland in the fierce Atlantic gales. Each day will be planned according to the weather conditions and chances of vagrants but birds that are guaranteed include the Great Northern Diver [Common Loon], Harlequin Duck, Barrow’s Goldeneye and both Iceland and Glaucous Gulls. We shall also look for Rock Ptarmigans and the Icelandic Redpolls. Any kind of rarity can be expected at this time of year, but we will explore various habitats that have produced excellent birds over the year both from the east and especially from the west.
