“Walk the bridge between Europe and America”

An Arctic Tern by Hrafn Svavarsson

Reykjanes Peninsula is an exciting area on the margin of the Eurasian and North American plates, located directly on the Mid-Atlantic ridge. It’s a mysterious and breathtaking area of rugged and harsh treeless volcanic landscapes which often makes first time visitors to Iceland think they have landed on the moon.  Being situated on the margin of the two tectonic plates the area gives a good idea of how Iceland is being torn apart by the forces beneath our feet and evidence such as volcanic rock, lava, fissures and gorges will be around us most of the day.
By keeping the group size small we are able to keep the itinerary flexible, depending on client’s requests and preferences, the weather and the time of year.
The birdlife that inhabits the Reykjanes Peninsula is quite spectacular. Species such as Harlequin Duck, Great Northern Diver, Horned Grebe, Northern Gannet, Great Cormorant, Kittiwake, Arctic Tern three species of guillemots and Razorbill are among those that might be seen during the day. Other wildlife species such as Harbor and Grey seals, White-beaked Dolphins and Minke Whales are also common in the area and we will make an effort to see them from land.
A fantastic tour with a great combination of breathtaking nature and interesting wildlife!

Arctic Tern. A very common bird on the Reykjanes Peninsula Harlequin Duck. These ducks are widespread on the Peninsula in the early and late summer Reykjanesta. The south shores at Reykjanes Peninsula show evidentely how the ocean waves of the North Atlantic ocean sweep unhindered on it Hraunsvik. A great spot for Nature- and Wildlifewatching Black-legged Kittiwakes are common breeding birds on the cliffs on the Reykjanes Peninsula Horned/Slavonian Grebe can still be seen on one lake in the town of Hafnarfjordur despite the fact that it's lake has been encircled by peoples homes. We'll make an effort and see if we can find them

What Our Participants Said About This Tour

"Thank you for this great wildlife experience! I never thought one could actually experience all these things in one day! A daytrip that exceeded my highest expectations!"

"This is the way to go! While we were observing a hotspring area with boiling and spouting hotsprings we saw the big buses hardly stopping and not allowing the people to go out even! I'll always be travelling in smaller groups from now on! Big Thanks to our guide Hrafn for amazing day!"
